Amanda Moss and Adrian Jones, the founders of Corsica Studios, negotiated their first property in exchange for a single piece of art.
Their goal was to create a sustainable arts and music venue that would be independent from the funding system.
Today Corsica Studios is one of London’s most respected independent venues and has provided a bridge between London’s music and art scenes for over a decade.
Art has always been fundamental to Corsica’s values and over the years Amanda and Adrian have created many successful art events and exhibitions.
The idea for FLEE has grown from a need and desire to provide a platform for the arts within Corsica’s high quality programme. Elephant and Castle is an area which in the process of regeneration provides the setting for this new Sunday market FLEE.
The transient nature of a market place seems fitting for an area undergoing change, where there is no permanent fixed home for exhibitors or stall holders. FLEE gives the opportunity to create a pop up style solution to this.
